In today’s Increase Your Income with Affiliate Marketing post, I’m going to share why affiliate marketing could provide you with a lucrative income. You could do this either on a full-time basis or as a side hustle. If you’re anything like me then you’ll always have your eyes and ears open for new opportunities.

And nowadays there’s no shortage of these making their way around the internet. Products are being released every day of the week and vendors are looking for affiliates to join them in taking these products to the marketplace.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is often a popular choice for people starting out online or for those who want to supplement their income without investing lots of time in setting up their own business or creating their own products. So, what do you have to do? It’s a case of share the product, make your sales, and get paid your commission. Simple. Affiliate programs are FREE to join and there’s absolutely no monetary investment required on your part.

With affiliate marketing you’re promoting other people’s products for a commission, usually ranging from 50% to as much as 100%.

Your objective is to find the right product and then match it to the right audience. In other words, solve a specific problem for a specific person. This can provide a very profitable income stream, especially if you know your target market and offer these products to a hungry crowd.

Now you might be thinking, why would someone who spent time and money creating a product be ready to give away more than they’re making from the sale of it?

Mutually Beneficial

Well, these vendors want to recruit as many affiliates as possible to promote their product. Doing this will result in more sales and therefore more money. However, more importantly for these vendors they’re building a database of buyers. This is a valuable asset to them because they’ll be able to contact this buyer list with new products and offers in the future.

The benefit for you is that promoting an affiliate product saves you lots of time and stops you having to worry about buying anything upfront. For example, you could start driving traffic to a software product that sells for $37 and make 100% commission on the front-end offer. Then you could make 50% commission on all the other products in the funnel. Furthermore, you could be doing this for several different products at the same time.

Beware of False Promises

However, there are those that make bold promises about how much money you can make literally overnight… just push a button and your bank account will be filling up on autopilot! Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

But often these products are not all they seem. It’s all very well having a high converting sales page but not much good if the product you’re pushing has technical issues, is incomplete and does not do all it claims to do!

How do you make the right choice about what to promote? How do you know what products you should avoid? Inferior products can destroy your reputation with your customers and result in you losing sales in the future. The whole process can become overwhelming and very confusing.

This is where you do need to invest a bit of time. It’s important to carry out a certain amount of research and make informed choices on the products you decide to promote. Check out the reputation of vendors and look at previous products they’ve released.

Finding Reliable Products and Trustworthy Vendors

You can find a huge amount of products to promote on platforms such as JVZoo, ClickBank and Warrior Forum which are all trusted marketplaces. These are massive repositories of affiliate products that you can freely browse. When you find something you want to promote you make an application to the vendor. Once accepted, you’re given a unique affiliate link. Many vendors don’t mind if you haven’t an established track record of sales yet. Everyone has to start somewhere, right?

When you drive traffic to your affiliate link visitors will land on the product sales page via a redirect which will store cookies on their computer. So, when they make a purchase the cookies identify them as your referral and you receive your commission on that sale.

Vendors will often supply their affiliates with materials to help them promote their product such as banner adverts, marketing emails, graphics, tweets, videos and so on. In fact, affiliates expect this! In addition, the vendor wants to attract as many affiliates as they can and make it as easy as possible for them to promote. The more sales, the better for everyone involved.

It’s great to hook up with other liked-minded individuals and product creators and work with them to take a high-quality product to a wider audience. Look to find a handful of vendors who launch products regularly that you’d be proud to stand behind.

Also focus on building up your traffic sources as no traffic = no sales.
